Nafter
New trade agreements with Mexico
and/or Canada,
may be named Nafter,
or Nafta after Trump.
It is his obsession to have his name
in all agreements involving the US.
The truth is, the American coffers are empty.
Efforts to fill it up with arms sales, sanctions and tariffs
are not getting the expected results.
America’s infrastructure is in a rut,
er, rot,
and US dollars are getting printed
as fast as the ink holds out.
Wall street stock values are up not because
of the progress of the corporations
but simply because people buy their stocks.
If people sell their stocks,
see how fast the share values go down.
Nafta is not a rip-off
as Trump says.
On the contrary it is the only means
that the US can dump
products to Mexico and Canada.
The excess by which milk is produced in the US
is enough to fill a lake.
And Trump blames Canada for not accepting this excess.
Canada is less populated and produces milk
just enough for consumption.
Canada is also shifting interest to foreign made cars,
like the Mini Cooper.
The US is not that important a trading partner
if Canada starts to look to Cuba
and Venezuela
and Syria
and Russia for trade.
Canada should also consider building oil tankers.
It should also beware of what Trump promises now.
A NAFTER sunset review
is similar to an intimidating
sanction clause.
Any deal with the US should take into consideration
that Trump cannot remain in office
for the next 7 years,
and that there will be less demand
for the USD currency after this.
A business hint would be :
SYRIA will be needing
heavy equipment operators.
(I would rather that Canada terminate NAFTA and let the buyers and sellers do their thing and thereby establishing their own level of business)
