The Many Faces of the Deranged

Deranged minds wear many faces.

Behold! These are some of them–

They may hail from Montreal, or New York,

maybe in sweden, or somewhere else.

They wear many faces.

Prevention appears to be the  best solution,

Recognition would be the best prevention.

But then,

who could recognize a mind that is deranged?

Mothers could.  Mothers would.

Mother knows best.

And then again,

Mothers don’t usually tell.

 Do they?

Expiry On Prepaid Mobile Phone Time

This is the way I see it….

The cellphone companies have no other choice but to impose an expiry date on prepaid user time. The way the system is built, there would be some problems regarding the server bandwidth and the processing of the time used.

The system is by prepaid time and its usage is counted down. The servers should maintain the simple data management of counting down the time used corresponding to a cellphone number. Should this cellphone number so much as fail to use up even seconds off its remaining time, the servers will have to maintain and reserved a portion of its memory to that cellphone number with its last seconds of unused time.

With this kind of a system,  defragmentation or compacting the data in the servers would prove inadvisable, hence a periodic “cleanup” is necessary to preserve the efficient use of memory. Expiry dates of time bought is therefore necessary to keep the servers running well.

Think of prepaid time as a train ticket which expires 1 1/2 hours from the time it was bought. Imagine the confusion it would cause should there not be an expiry time imposed on these bus tickets.

There would not have been a problem of expiry dates on prepaid time should the system be that wherein cellphones are registered like those in the other countries. Cellphones are registered with a service company according to its phone number, serial number, and owner’s name. With this system, the annoying problem of cellphone theft is just but eliminated. The phone numbers are simply disabled by the phone company should the cellphone be lost or stolen. The user  is billed a monthly fee, however, plus a limited  call time per month is imposed.

In the Philippines, a two-class system of mobile service can be done. The first one is that which I explained and is under monthly contract. The  second one is the existing system of service which is the prepaid time with an expiry date.

The cellphone users are given the choice of the service.

Grimaces, not Guffaws

My apologies to those who were waiting for my posts at about this time of the day, but my left toe decides not to cooperate with me today.  This may be arthritis or impending gout for me.

Heavens, I’m too young to have arthritis attacks (ehem) and not too wealthy to have gout (gulp!). But the blasted toe really hoits!

I do promise tomorrow that I will make up for it. At any rate, this will be a good time for me to mention that the month of June ran up another record in hits for this website—-300,856 authenticated and viewed hits.

Straight From The Shoulder

Julia Gillard

Like a jab from the shoulder, the Prime Minister of Australia declares:

“‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT… Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.

‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!’

Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.

If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'”

(Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. )
